TMD (temporomandibular disorders) refers to dysfunction and pain in the jaw joint and the muscles involved in biting and chewing. About 8% of Finns experience symptoms - most commonly women aged 35–50.

Symptoms can be varied, but jaw-muscle massage combined with your own home practice often brings quick relief. In some cases a bite splint from your dentist is also worth considering, particularly if the bite itself is misaligned.

Stress is a frequent driver of daytime or night-time clenching (bruxism). Alongside the massage I share home exercises and self-care tips so the benefit lasts well beyond the session.

I have completed both the foundational and advanced courses in jaw-muscle dysfunction treatment with Samuli Sairiala (Samfysio Oy).
